Workshop

The idea
A ten-day-film-workshop will be held in March 2010 in the Cinema Jenin. Ten aspiring Palestinian filmmakers and those wanting to become a filmmaker will get the chance to make ten short films in cooperation with German filmmakers.
These films will be presented at the opening of the new cinema in Jenin in August 2010. Besides that they will be collected on a DVD and broadcasted via internet.
The workshop
The application is open for anyone between 18 and 30 from the West Bank or Gaza. You do not need to have any experience in film making, just be interested and have a good idea.
Out of all applicants we will choose ten participants and invite them to Jenin. Lodging and food will be provided; as well as all of the technical equipment and editing tools.
The hands-on-workshop will include:
- Conceptual work: film script development
- Practical teaching in dealing with camera and sound equipment
- Support of the shooting
- Practical teaching in editing and post-production
Language
The workshop will be held in English and Arabic. There will be interpreters so everyone can understand each other.
Your film
The film could be about your own story or whatever story you want to tell. You can make interviews; tell a love story, an action film or a comedy. You can also choose the style of the film. It could be a documentary, a music video, a fiction film or a video installation.
The team is a group of 4 film professionals from Germany: a director, a script writer, an editor and a director of photography, who would like to help you develop your idea into a film. They will teach you how to make films while supporting you to prepare, shoot and edit your own film.

During the whole time of the application process and during the preparation of the film workshop there will be a blog at: BLOG. Go online and discuss with us your ideas! We will also answer your questions about film making and talk about the film workshop.
The partners
The workshop is a project of the German production company Beleza Film. Partners are Studio Hamburg, the Goethe-Institut Ramallah and the Cinema Jenin.
